About the role 

This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 3 days / week (21 hours), based at Uniting's Counselling and Mediation program in Wollongong

Uniting has a long history of high-quality service delivery, being well regarded, and connected with family law stakeholders.  As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP), you’ll provide FDR to families’ post-separation who are experiencing various levels of conflict and are unable to reach agreements about children or property. Online video appointments, legally-assisted mediation and child inclusive practice are examples of Uniting’s innovative FDR practices. You will be working with a dynamic team of FDRPs and therapists to support families holistically.

About You

  • Accredited by the Australian Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, or eligible for accreditation. Applicants who are unsure of eligibility should contact the AGD Practitioner Accreditation Unit. Uniting will require evidence of eligibility.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, psychology or social work.
  • An understanding of the process and purpose of child inclusive mediation practice.
  • Knowledge of family law legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community services, especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties.
  • Understanding of child protection issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as be able to contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and writing skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Meet the program-specific client targets.
