Youth Caseworker (GITS)

As a Youth Caseworker you will be working as part of the Getting It Together Scheme (GITS), providing early intervention to young people (12-25 years old) who have concerns with drugs and alcohol. You will provide services and support through case management, referrals and/or brokerage services.

About the Role

  • Provide assistance to young people and their families where drugs and alcohol are identified as an issue for the young person
  • Follow the Trauma Informed Framework with the young person and their families to assess level of risk and/or identify their strengths
  • Develop one on one working relationships with young people to meet their immediate and future needs
  • Delivery of workshops to target vulnerable young people (groups/schools)
  • Mentor and coach young people in decision making, self manage situations/crisis to

About You

  • Two years experience working with vulnerable, at risk young people
  • Previous experience working with youth/adults with drug and alcohol concerns essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of the child protection legislation and experience working within the legislation
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting homeless young people and their families
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with challenging behaviours
  • Drivers licence
