 About the role

This fantastic full-time permanent role is located at our beautiful North Parramatta Campus where there is plenty of off-street parking available. This role is within the Governance, Risk, and Quality Directorate reporting to the Head of Quality and Service Improvement. The role involves embedding the governance and compliance of Uniting’s policy framework and supporting the organisation’s quality and management systems, continuous improvement processes and projects.

As Policy and Quality Specialist, your role specifically will include being accountable for:

 Policy Framework key accountabilities

  • Ensure the ongoing efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Uniting policy framework.
  • Ensure the ongoing governance of policy documents is in line with the requirements of the Uniting policy framework.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain effective, sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholder to meet strategic objectives.
  • Undertake any other duties as required within the scope of the role.

Quality key accountabilities

  • Ongoing monitoring of Uniting continuous improvement initiatives and management systems across the organisation.
  • Support the development and improvement of continuous improvement governance and performance reporting.
  • Provide support to the Quality and Service Improvement team and key service/practice staff in following accreditation and certification processes and projects.
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement of accreditation and certification registers.
  • Undertake any other duties as required within the scope of the role.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as quality, risk, compliance or business.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in your field of expertise.
  • You will be continuing to develop in your area of expertise and expected to have:
    • Demonstrated experience in administering and supporting policy governance frameworks across corporate, government and/or industry regulatory bodies.
    • Demonstrated experience in policy writing and implementation.
    • Demonstrated skills in systems thinking and commitment to continuous improvement within the scope of the role.
    • Experience in project management methodologies and tools. Strong aptitude and discipline to further evolve this skillset.
    • Experience in quality systems and/or supporting staff with continuous improvement methods and activities.
    • Knowledge of legislation and standards and how they apply in a context relevant to your role and the work environment.
    • Understanding of or experience in compliance and accreditation / certification processes.
    • Advanced proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Strong time management skills, including effective forward planning, coordination, prioritization and management of tasks to stakeholder expectations and timeframes.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • High level of analytical ability and sound judgement.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills (perceptive, diplomatic, cheerful, ‘can do’ attitude) and the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
    • Demonstrated passion for social change and contributing to an organisation of influence for the most disadvantaged.

  • Sound experience/understanding of the human services sector
  • Understanding of, or experience in, the human services legislative and regulatory environment
