Warekila is an Assertive Outreach Recovery Focused Mental Health Service for people aged 18 years of age and over residing in the Northern Sydney, Northern Beaches, Hornsby and Ryde areas, who are experiencing mental health concerns and who can be managed in the primary care setting alongside their GP and through partnerships with other service providers.

The service has a multidisciplinary team of clinicians who will provide intake, assessment, clinical care coordination and functional recovery-based therapy. The team will work closely with General Practices and private psychiatric practices with the aim of having a positive impact on people’s recovery and management of the mental illness.

Role Overview

The Clinician role is an integral part of the Warekila multidisciplinary team. This role involves provision of comprehensive recovery focused, evidence-based clinical care coordination, assessment, and psychological interventions to clients where required.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Work as a part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely access for clients
  • Provide recovery focused care and clinical care co-ordination to assist them in achieving the goals and actions outlined in their care/management plan.
  • Provide triage and assessment to clients accessing support using a holistic biopsychosocial approach
  • To maintain and promote an awareness of primary health issues in the community e.g. GP’s, Service Providers
  • To provide recovery focused medium-term case management (up to 1 year) in a one-to-one or group setting
  • Essential Criteria:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work with full registration with AHPRA or eligible for membership with the AASW. 
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience of clinical practice field (excluding placements) within the mental health providing high quality triage, assessment and evidence based psychological interventions where required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and coordinate a comprehensive bio-psycho-social approach and interventions to meet the needs of clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and ability to exercise independent judgment on routine as well as complex, or critical tasks specific to the discipline
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to use relevant Information Technology and electronic recording systems and data management tools and commitment to comply with same  
  • Ability and willingness to maintain documentation of clinical care and actively contribute to clinical review processes and planning for clients within a recovery framework.
  • Demonstrated a commitment or willingness to continue professional development, contribute to workplace education through clinical supervision, training and education through the provision of seminars, lectures or in-services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act (2007) and other relevant legislation
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior experience of using electronic databases.
  • Experience working in a strengths-based recovery framework.
  • Experience working in an NGO
