Groups Facilitator - NDIS program - Part time 25 hpw

Uniting Recovery's NDIS program aims to support NDIS participants with severe and persistent mental health problems and assists participants in developing the capacity and resilience to undertake life tasks independently and achieve their lifetime goals.

  • Part time in Oatlands (close to Parramatta) 25 hours per week
  • Join a supportive team in community mental health
  • Support adults experiencing mental health problems in group setting

Role Overview:

The NDIS Groups Facilitator is responsible for developing and facilitating groups to support capacity building for service clients. The Groups Facilitator also shares responsibility for reviewing the effectiveness of group-based programs.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and Facilitate a variety of groups and activities which focus on developing social or basic living skills.
  • Facilitate individual goal review in accordance with set NDIS goals.
  • Provide high-quality group-based activities for clients, encouraging and supporting community integration, adhering to a person-centred approach and following Recovery oriented practice. 
  • Collect feedback relating to participant experience and identify opportunities to improve mental health services for clients.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV or equivalent in Community Services, Mental Health, or related field
  • One (1) year or more years experience in your field of expertise
  • Experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness. 
  • Experience developing, facilitating and reviewing the effectiveness of group-based capacity building groups for adults. 
  • Understanding of the principles of Recovery Orientated Mental Health Practice. 
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop support plans and utilize outcome measures.
