LikeMind provides free and confidential integrated services for adults experiencing mental health concerns, as well as their families and carers. LikeMind aims to establish partnerships across sectors and brings together existing community services to one accessible and engaging community space to develop an integrated service hub of co-located help and support. The program uses a consumer-driven recovery model to work together with consumers to address their mental health needs.

Role Overview
The position of Group Coordinator will involve the development, implementation, and facilitation of evidence-based group programs at the LikeMind sites. The aim of delivering group programs is to improve functioning, facilitate recovery, promote wellbeing for individuals who experience mental health issues accessing support via LikeMind.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Work as a part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure participants are identified and have access to the services in a timely manner
  • Create, implement, and evaluate a variety of programs targeted to adults accessing LikeMind
  • Work closely with the LikeMind team to ensure groups are based on the principles of recovery, keeping in mind the target population of adults
  • To deliver capacity building and education sessions to the LikeMind team alongside the Senior Clinicians and staff
  • To be innovative in clinical service provision, and to contribute to current evidence- based practice, including ongoing review of group programs delivered by participating in quality improvement processes
  • Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology (must be provisionally registered as a minimum), Social Work, Registered Nursing, or Occupational Therapy including current registration or eligibility to register with respective professional body.
  • Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating evidence-based group programs with demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and deliver group programs to meet the needs of consumers based on a case formulation approach
  • Able to work independently and is required to exercise independent judgment on routine matters
  • Able to work independently or with professional supervision from more senior members of the profession or health team when performing novel, complex, or critical tasks
  • Demonstrated skills in decision making, problem solving, negotiation and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the mental health needs of adults, understanding of recovery model principles and ability to implement these in clinical practice
  • Ability to effectively engage consumers and their families, as well as other stakeholders, including the ability to be creative and flexible
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to use relevant information technology, electronic recording systems and data management tools
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act (2007)
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
