About the opportunity

The role is responsible for enhancing the overall dining experience for residents. This role will ensure that dining services are tailored to the individual needs, preferences and cultural backgrounds of older people, supporting social engagement, functional independence and quality of life. This role will also foster a sense of connection and belonging, ensuring that mealtime is a positive and enriching part of a residents day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create Dementia-friendly/household dining experiences and support the creation of a welcoming and supportive dining environment for residents by influencing best practices and collaborating with car teams.
  • Promote choice and independence: Encourage and support residents in making their own choices and maintaining independent dining mealtimes, while influencing staff training and dining protocols to prioritise resident autonomy.
  • Apply good food, nutrition and dining principles: Support the implementation of best practices in food preparation and dining by influencing menu planning and nutritional guidelines to enhance residents health and enjoyment.
  • Support good nutrition and hydration: Ensure residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration by influencing dietary plans and hydration strategies, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Safety: Adhering to food safety regulations and ensure compliance with health standards.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate and relevant discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Recognised qualifications and/or experience in hospitality management 

Even better

  • Experience in hospitality, aged care, or customer service, with a focus on dining or food services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for enhancing the quality of life for older people.
  • Knowledge of cultural and religious dietary requirements, with a commitment to providing inclusive meal services.
  • Ability to lead and train staff, fostering a supportive and positive dining environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a resident-focused approach to problem-solving.
