Role Overview:

The Clinical Educator role is integral in leading the development of a workforce capacity building initiative for Uniting’s clinical services. The Clinical Educator will implement an integrated student placement program that delivers a wholesome experience for our future workforce exposing students to the range of clinical services we deliver.

As a Clinical Educator, your role specifically will lead the implementation of a workforce capacity building program for headspace Mt Druitt and Penrith delivering the following activities among others:

  • Establish a working group with key internal stakeholders to contribute to the program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Liaise with eligible universities, training bodies, peak bodies/professional bodies and headspace National to create student learning pathways to headspace services, catering to the individual requirements of each profession
  • Develop a program outline that caters for various stages of student learning and for eligible mental health professions e.g., psychology, occupational therapy, social work and mental health nursing.
  • Develop a field supervision structure that enables exposure to multidisciplinary teams, acuity, therapy types, administrative responsibilities and processes for client transitions such as step-up and step-down.
  • Develop a training program and resources to support clinical service staff to provide field supervision, task supervision, mentorship, and support students during placements
     

Essential Criteria:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as Psychology, Social Work Registered Nursing or Occupational Therapy).
• Full registration with a respective professional body (such as AHPRA), or eligibility for membership with AASW.
• Current Australian Driver’s License.
• Evidence of qualification or relevant experience in Clinical Supervision, mental health specific
• Significant demonstrated experience within the mental health sector providing high quality triage, assessment and evidence based psychological interventions where required.
• Experience in developing training programs to cater to mental health professionals, ideally for a multidisciplinary team
• Experience in onboarding and induction to new staff and/or students or interns
• Project management experience specifically, meeting time frames, key performance indicators, monitoring implementation and evaluation
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and others and experience in contributing to workplace education through clinical supervision, training and education through the provision of seminars, lectures or in-services.
• Ability to maintain and develop the culture, philosophy, standards, guidelines and policies of the service.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation to the service, such as the Mental Health Act (2007) and the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act (1998).
• Ability to use and upskill others in relevant information, technology, electronic recording systems and data management tools.
